My Journey

My name is Steve Cornell and I have been creating pieces of Calligraphy for over 30 years. Most of my life was spent in the cloistered surrounds of Cambridge and Ely but I’m now based on the edge of The Peak District in Sheffield.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History.

I listen to Janis Ian and Led Zeppelin and everything in between. I still listen to Dark Side of the Moon. I’ll watch anything directed by Ridley Scott or written by Aaron Sorkin.

I want to be a Blues Brother when I grow up.

But back to Calligraphy.

Working from my studio at home, I source my ink, nibs and pens from London and Suffolk, wax seals from Essex, ink stamps from South Yorkshire, paper and card from a mill in Scotland.

My inspiration will come from you. My aim is to continue to evolve my art and create original calligraphy that will stand the test of time. I look forward to hearing from you and sharing my aspirations.

Thank you for reading this and looking at my Calligraphy. I hope my work gives you as much pleasure as I had from creating it.
